The weekend of August 15-17 the Hey Now! team attended Weapons of Mass Creation, a design conference in Cleveland, Ohio that features diverse speakers, artists, and bands for a weekend of learning. One of our biggest take-a-ways was “focusing on the processes are just as important as the work.”
This speaks to system building within your business. The creation of good systems is what really makes your goals achievable. Think of it this way:
If you’re an entrepreneur, your goal is to build a million dollar business. One of your systems is your sales and marketing process. Starting with a budget and forecasting will help you set pricing. Then creating priorities will help you decide what to tackle first and how. From there, a cohesive sales plan can be created based on the priorities you’ve set that are in turn based on the budgeting.
That was just one type of system that is vital to success. Another system might be how you and your team tackle projects. Do you use BaseCamp or some other project management software? Who is the point person and are there quality control measures in place before anything goes out? All of these processes ensure that your growth and success are scalable.
If you put things in place to grow properly while maintaining your quality standards, you have a much better chance of overall long-term success.
